April Green Vibe update

New month, new format.

I do hope you enjoy the new format for green vibe. If you are just tripping around the internet and you find things that would be useful to link to this site please feel free to pick them up and add them.

I see this as a collaboration with others in the global community who are searching for good information about matters green.

I love listening to the Radio when I am doing things so I get a lot of info that way. I also enjoy, when I can remember to watch the ABC’s New Inventors. There are many great new inventions that are conscious of and consientious about the environment and the need to speed up our ……….. of our planet.

I am sure that you are aware of the 100th monkey syndrome. The environment is one of those things. The weight of public opinion, public consciousness is moving towards a real understanding about the world in which we live.

This month I would like to highlight Green Washing. Below are a few links that you might like to explore.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greenwash – explanation – the use by companies of the name green, the sound of green technology and the delivery of the same old same old. The term came into use around 1990,[3] most notably as the title of an article in the 1991 March/April issue of Mother Jones magazine. The term is generally used when significantly more money or time has been spent advertising being green (that is, operating with consideration for the environment), rather than spending resources on environmentally sound practices.

Background Briefing ran an excellent programme on this practice some few months ago. If you want to explore it more go to http://www.abc.net.au/rn/backgroundbriefing/stories/2008/2155943.htm for a transcript.

Biodiversity.

There is an urgent call to action from the international community. If you are interested in maintaining biodiversity and protecting organic and bio dynamic practices then you might like to sign this petition. Even if this does not seem to touch you in your part of the globe you just might find that eventually your choice of food and quality will be so affected becausee you failed to take simple action here and now. Have a go – visit the site and add your signature if you are called to do so. http://www.eliant.nl/?action=behaviour&actionid=215〈=uk

Bau-Biologie

http://www.buildingbiology.net/This is a really interesting German movement with lots of extremely interesting material. The Germans have been very serious about sustainable architecture and building design for longer than most of us have been on this planet.

Well I think that is a bit of a wrap for this month.

Enjoy.
